Bone Profile
Your bones provide structural support for your body. They protect your brain, heart, and other organs from injury. Your bones also store minerals such as calcium and phosphorous, which help keep them strong.
There are many things we can do to keep our bones healthy and strong. Eating foods rich in calcium and vitamin D, being physically active, and having good health habits can make a difference. However, aging, medications, diet, smoking, inactivity, hormones, and chronic conditions such as arthritis can contribute to bone problems, making them weak, brittle, immobile, and painful.
Our nutrient intake is an important and modifiable factor in bone health. Bone formation requires an adequate and constant supply of nutrients, such as calcium, protein, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin D, potassium, and fluoride. Inadequate intake of these nutrients increases the risk of bone-related conditions.
The Riordan Clinic Bone Health Profile provides an individualized assessment of your body’s crucial nutrients. It ensures that you are getting adequate essentials to building and keeping strong bones throughout your lifetime.
