Charles Hinshaw, MD

In the Hinshaw family Charles Hinshaw, MD represents the third generation of Kansas based Medical Doctors. He is a 1958 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and went on to complete an internship at the Kansas University Medical Center. Dr. Hinshaw enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving first as a General Medical Officer and later as a Flight Surgeon. Returning to KUMC after the Air Force, Dr. Hinshaw served as a Resident-Fellow in Pathology from 1961-1965.

While practicing hospital pathology in Hutchinson, Kansas, Dr. Hinshaw was asked by Dr. Hugh D. Riordan to help establish a new laboratory in Wichita to be expressly dedicated to testing patients for the levels of essential nutrients needed to optimize good health. This relationship became a full-time pursuit from 1979 – 1983 at what is now known as the Riordan Clinic.

Dr. Hinshaw established a private practice in Environmental Medicine in 1984. He maintained both a personal and professional relationship with Dr. Riordan, and returned to the Riordan Clinic in 2010. His current responsibilities include both laboratory and clinical medicine under the title of Director of the Bio-Center Laboratory at the Riordan Clinic. During his professional career Dr. Hinshaw has made numerous presentations to civic and professional organizations. He has served as President of the Kansas Society of Pathologists, Secretary of the Advisory Council to the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and President of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. Hinshaw’s practice focuses on understanding the causes of disease and altered human functioning through his specialties in Pathology and Environmental Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and by the American Board of Environmental Medicine.
