Essential Program

Some of our most encouraging success stories are with patients who have a variety of long-term symptoms, but have been unable to get a diagnosis.

The Essential Patient Program is designed for those who want to maintain wellness, avoid prescription medication to treat daily concerns, prevent chronic illness or have been struggling to find an answer to their health questions. Our doctors take the time needed to do a full evaluation of both your health history and your current concerns. They work together with our lab to find your unique bio-chemical make up and they use this information to uncover the root cause of your symptoms. Our goal is not to mask your symptoms, but to uncover and address the causes. Are you ready to find the answers and begin making the changes needed to move towards Real Health?

Who would benefit from this program?

We work with people dealing with a wide variety of health concerns. If you are suffering from long term issues, such as the examples below, then we feel you would benefit from the Essential Patient Program:

Arthritis and Inflammation Adrenal and Generalized Fatigue Anxiety and Depression
ADD/ADHD Thyroid or Hormone Disorders Insomnia or Sleeping Issues
Crohn’s Disease Headaches and Migraines Food Sensitivities and Gut Issues
Asthma and Allergies Chronic Pain General Wellness… and More!
*Complicated or chronic cases may need to utilize the Advanced Patient Program for best results.

Sample Appointment

Our initial evaluation for the Essential Patient Program will take up to a full day and include the items listed below.

During your initial vist your doctor will develop a treatment plan specifically based on your individual needs. This will  include a variety of lifestyle and nutrition instructions, outline of daily supplementation products, IV and clinic services, follow up appointments or educational resources. This yields a highly customized holistic treatment plan that will put you on the path to better health. As a patient at the Riordan Clinic you will be fully involved in the discovery process of getting well.

Check-In Process

Co-learners start in Dome 1 by checking in at reception. At this time you will turn in new patient forms as well as relevant medical records from the last six months. A member from our clinic team will then greet you and take you to your first appointment.

Laboratory Panels and Testing

Laboratory testing is essential to our Real Health Discovery process because they are necessary to detect nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities and screen for other major health issues. Our doctors use the results of lab testing as a vital tool in discovering the root cause of your health concerns and starting you on a path to Real Health.  Since laboratory testing requires fasting, we will have you meet with one of our experienced phlebotomists as your first step in the day’s schedule.  Tests are performed through the convenience of our onsite BioCenter Laboratory.

Please note that if you are a female who is still menstruating regularly – it may be best, especially if having hormonal concerns, to run your blood work between day 18- 22 of your menstrual cycle. Please tell us when scheduling your initial visit if you know what dates these are.

“The causes of these chronic diseases are buried deep
and without digging in with the lab testing
you may just be covering up symptoms and
missing the opportunity to correct the root causes.”
– Dr Ron Hunninghake, Chief Medical Officer

Initial Visit with Physical Assessment

Together with the doctor you will spend up to an hour, sometimes more, to review your health history and discuss any symptoms or concerns regarding your health or personal goals. The doctor will perform a routine physical examination. Based on your physical examination, health history, and symptoms, your doctor may order additional lab tests and will establish your individualized treatment plan.

Lab & IV Consultation

After meeting with the doctor, co-learners (patients) will talk with a member of our clinic team who will review the laboratory orders, IV nutrition plan, and other services suggested by the doctor. Our staff will also answer any questions that you might have throughout the process.

IV Nutrition

Everyone, no matter your health status, can benefit from IV Nutrition. Your body’s cells depend upon nutrients to fuel their energy producing biochemistry. IV Nutrition is the fastest way available to replenish chronically depleted nutrient reserves. As part of the Essential Patient Program, co-learners will receive an IV infusion that will include a variety of nutrients customized based on their nutritional needs. This intial IV will contain up to 25 grams of
Vitamin C. Learn more about IV Vitamin C.

IV Education Session

After the final meeting with the doctor, all co-learners will once again have the opportunity to sit with a member of our clinic team for a final review of the information and treatment plan discussed during their doctor appointment. This is an opportunity to ask any questions or clarify any concerns while still on campus. Co-learners are always welcome to contact Riordan Clinic staff with questions in between appointments as well.

Food as Medicine Course

All new patients will receive a flash drive with a recording of the Food as Medicine course as well as a digital copy of the text book. The in-depth course will connect the dots and address some fundamental questions behind how our diet impacts our health and well-being and how it contributes to the progression of chronic disease. Learn more about this course.
