Richard Z. Cheng, MD, PhD

Dr. Richard Z. Cheng is an NIH-trained physician-scientist with five decades of international medical experience spanning orthomolecular medicine, integrative oncology, metabolic medicine, anti-aging medicine, and chronic disease reversal. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service (OMNS) and maintains active clinical leadership roles in the United States and China.

Dr. Cheng received his M.D. from Shanghai Medical University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed residency training in internal medicine and pathology and served as a Medical Staff Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NIH). He previously served as Department Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at a U.S. federal medical center.

Dr. Cheng is a Fellow and Diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (A4M) and a Hall of Fame inductee of the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine (ISOM). He serves as an Expert Medical Reviewer for the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and has served as teaching faculty for continuing medical education (CME) programs at Rush University and the American Academy of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (A4M). He has also served as an anti-aging medicine consultant to Queen’s Hospital in Doha, Qatar, and is a co-founder of the Society of International Metabolic Oncology (SIMO) and the Low Carb Medicine Alliance of China.

He is Founder and CEO of Cheng Integrative Health Center in South Carolina and Cheng Health Consulting, Ltd. in Shanghai, China, providing integrative orthomolecular medicine consultations internationally.

Dr. Cheng has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on vitamins C and D, metabolic therapy, cardiovascular disease, cancer metabolism, and integrative medical frameworks. He has also translated and published several orthomolecular and metabolic medicine texts in China and is a frequent international lecturer. His work emphasizes root-cause, patient-centered approaches grounded in biochemistry, nutrition, and systems medicine—values closely aligned with the Riordan Clinic’s mission and legacy.
