Fall 2024 Check Your Health
“In my 30 years of practicing nutritional medicine, there is nothing I have discovered that is more important than understanding your own individual nutrient levels. This is a cornerstone in building a nutritional protocol, diet, and lifestyle that will strengthen and fuel your biochemistry,” – Dr. Ron Hunninghake, MD
Your health is one of your most valuable assets! Be proactive and check your nutrient levels through the Riordan Clinic’s Check Your Health event. Participants can choose from one of five lab profiles to learn about your unique nutritional status. Empower yourself with life-changing knowledge to identify nutrient deficiencies and help prevent illness and chronic disease. Lab draws will be done on weekdays from September 16-27. Don’t wait until the week of the sale to schedule, call today to schedule to secure your appointment!
In addition to your lab test results, you have the opportunity to discuss them with one of our providers so you can better understand what steps to take to improve your health.** Many people find they are deficient in one or more key vitamins, minerals, or other nutrients. The Riordan Clinic has offered nutrient testing to the public for the past 30 years as part of the clinic’s commitment to health.
On September 19th at 11:30, Dr. Ron Hunninghake, MD, CMO will explain the Riordan Approach to “Data-Driven Health Insights” and the benefits of using your personal data to make healthcare decisions. Registration will begin August 19th, 2024.

“It is much less expensive to prevent a disease than to treat it!”
Nutrient testing is at the core of what we do here at the Riordan Clinic. Every person is biochemically unique. We all have different nutritional needs based on hereditary factors, environment, diet, lifestyle choices, and stage of life.
The Bio-Center Laboratory’s signature nutrition testing focuses on the direct measurement of nutrients and their clinical relevance in fighting or preventing disease. Results from the nutrient testing can also help direct a daily nutrition and supplementation plan for your specific needs. Don’t just guess on what supplements you need – make decisions based on real data!

Check Your Health Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I decide which profile is best for me?
Consider any current health concerns or diagnosed conditions. The Hormone Profile is a good choice for men or women experiencing any hormone-related issues such as hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, discomfort, or lack of interest in sex in women, low sex drive, loss of energy, strength, or stamina in men.
If you are looking for a basic measurement of key cellular level health, the Basic Profile will give you a baseline beyond conventional lab tests. This includes magnesium, which is critical to many body system functions; hs-CRP, which measures inflammation related to the heart that can cause hardening of vessel walls; and hemoglobinA1c, which will give you a picture of how your body processes glucose over a three-month window instead of traditional glucose testing, which only captures blood sugar levels at the time of the test. This can be useful for diabetics in understanding how well they are managing their disease over time.
The Advanced Profile adds additional vitamins, including A and B vitamins, as well as fatty acids such as Omega 3 and Omega 6, and Coenzyme Q10, which is important for skeletal and cardiac health. It is also a good choice for people taking cholesterol medication because statins can deplete Coenzyme Q10.
The Nutrition Profile is a good choice for someone taking vitamins and supplements and trying to eat well and who wants a comprehensive look at how well those initiatives are working. It includes many trace elements that are crucial to key functioning and identifying where supplementation and diet need adjusted or are lacking.
The Mega Profile is the most comprehensive test offered during Check Your Health. It features more than 70 individual tests for vitamins, minerals, hormones, amino acids, lipids, glucose monitoring, and more. In addition, it includes all tests from the other four profiles and is one of the oldest and most popular profiles offered.
-
Do I need to schedule an appointment to have my blood drawn?
Scheduling an appointment is not required, but it is preferred. We can have your paperwork ready and ensure that your wait time is as short as possible. To schedule your Check Your Health lab draw appointment, call 1-800-447-7276 x1385 or x1302. Lab draws for Check Your Health will be done on weekdays from March 13-24.
-
Can I participate in the Check Your Health Lab draws if I have/had cancer?
The Check Your Health Lab Profiles are not recommended for co-learners with active cancer or a history of cancer. The Oncology Lab Profile is designed specifically for individuals with a cancer diagnosis. This Profile gives our providers the required data to adequately assess a cancer patient's terrain and formulate a comprehensive care plan. To inquire about becoming a patient and scheduling the Oncology Profile lab draw, please contact the New Patient Coordinator team at 1-800-447-7276, ext. 1354.
-
How long will it take to have my blood and urine collected?
It usually takes about 15 minutes. The Mega and Nutrition Profiles require a urine sample.
-
How do I get test results?
Your results will be mailed to you via USPS. You will also receive a copy of our Nutrient Guide, a helpful resource about the individual tests. A sample report can be found on our website.
-
Can I see a provider regarding my results?
The Mega, Nutrition, and Advanced Wellness Profiles include a 30-minute virtual or in-person appointment with Laura Vasquez, MSN, APRN, NP-C, to review lab test results. Call 913-745-4757 to schedule.
-
Do I have to fast?
Some profiles require a 10 to 12-hour overnight fast. You may drink water. If medically possible, please refrain from taking medications or supplements on the day of your lab draw.
-
If my results are in the normal range, do I need to see a doctor?
Your goal should be to have your results fall within the optimal range for each test. Daily stresses often deplete nutrient levels.
-
Should I consider testing my children?
Proper nutrition is very important for many processes such as learning, behavior, growth and development, and athletics. Children often do not eat as well as they should, and testing can determine if a child has sub-optimal levels of vitamins and nutrients. Be aware that there are certain limitations on how much blood can be drawn based upon a child’s weight and age.
-
How often should I be tested, and what is the benefit of follow-up testing?
The frequency of testing depends on the particular test, but in general, once every 6 months to one year is sufficient. As an example, we often measure levels of vitamins, nutrients, and minerals within the red blood cell as this more closely reflects tissue levels. It takes about 120 days for a new red blood cell to be produced by the bone marrow; therefore, it would take about 4 months for any changes in dietary consumption of a particular nutrient to be reflected in your red blood cell levels.
-
Can I file these tests with my insurance or Medicare?
They cannot be filed with insurance or Medicare.
-
Can I get other tests that are not in my particular health profile?
Yes, they can be requested by you at the list price.
-
When will I get my test results?
Due to the large volume of tests, it may take up to three weeks to receive your results.
-
Can I still receive a discount on supplements if I don’t receive my lab test results until after the Nutrient Store sale?
Yes. All participants in the Check Your Health Profiles will receive a coupon for 25% off supplements, which may be used after your lab test results are received so you can purchase the supplements most appropriate for you.
