Nasha Winters, ND, FABNO, L.Ac, Dipl.OM
Dr. Nasha Winters, ND, FABNO, L.Ac, Dipl.OM is the visionary and CEO, as well as best selling author, lecturer, and the primary consultant of Optimal TerrainTM. Informed by more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry and a thought leader in personalized precision medicine, Dr. Nasha works to educate clients, doctors and researchers world wide on how to apply integrative oncology philosophically and therapeutically.
A diagnosis of cancer in 1991 redirected her focus from pursuing conventional medicine to exploring at that time, the emerging field of psychoneuroimmunology. Her interest in all things related to health landed her in rich learning environments from Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine to Ayurvedic Medicine and beyond, further rooting her in a scientific but holistic, terrain-centric approach that leaves no stone unturned.
Dr. Winters’ background includes working with indigenous people with addictions and metabolic issues, HIV/AIDS community learning immunology and infectious disease, pain management with renowned physicians, geriatric care, midwifery and fertility, endocrinology, neurology, women’s health and autoimmune disease—specialties rounding out a deep understanding of the topography of the human body and psyche that eventually led Dr. Nasha to work exclusively with patients with cancer. This resulted in her interpretation that there is no single cause, target or treatment for chronic illness and cancer and it takes a well-rounded understanding of the whole person to have the greatest impact on this multi-factorial process.
Passionate about nourishing, quality food and its implications in healing or poisoning the body while targeting many of the processes that drive cancer and chronic illness, Dr. Nasha Winters, along with her co-author Jess Higgins Kelley, MNT authored the book, “The Metabolic Approach to Cancer” as it serves as the foundation in which Optimal Terrain approaches each and every client. Lecturing and attending oncology-centric conferences world wide, Dr. Winters remains committed to staying on top of cutting edge research and exploring ways to manipulate the metabolic, cytotoxic, and immunologic potential of the terrain (Click to read more on Terrain TenTM). Her client evaluation is based on her proprietary approach to analyzing labs, molecular profiles, epigenetics, trauma history including ACE scores (Adverse Childhood Events), personal and family medical history, diet and lifestyle choices and beyond. Inspired by the changes she has seen in the last few years, a sign that the way we practice medicine in general and the approach to cancer, in particular, is heading down an entirely new and hopeful path. Dr. Nasha is delighted to have a front row seat to the transformation of how we think about and approach cancer while forging a new definition in health.
